Beyond the Bars: Maine is a conference that centers directly impacted individuals to drive systemic and narrative change. Inspired by Columbia University’s annual conference, the event gathers stakeholders to foster dialogue and align change efforts. The Beyond the Bars: Maine event brings together local and national stakeholders to foster critical conversations and inspire both advocates and policymakers to align their visions for progressive, system-level change. The upcoming theme, “Freedom & Love: From Individual to Collective Liberation,” focuses on resilient, healing strategies and collective freedom. The event is designed to strengthen the collective impact of various academic, community organizations and justice-focused organizations and will highlight the work of Opportunity Scholars, alumni, and community partners. The conference will again include a healing justice space dedicated to recovery, social justice, and healing-centered wellness facilitated by our partners at Arcana.

Registration is free, with a suggested donation of $25-$100.
