“Food is Love”: A Poetry Open Mic & Food Drive

Join us for Food Is Love: an evening of open mic poetry and spoken word performances on the intersections of food, nourishment, love, and social justice. The event will take place on Friday, February 13th from 6pm-8:30pm at Blue Jay Coffee in Lewiston.

We will gather at Blue Jay Coffee in Lewiston on Friday, February 13th from 6:00 to 8:30 PM. Doors will open at 6, with open mic-style performances and poetry readings beginning at 6:30. This event will bring people together to grapple with the challenges we face in the realm of food justice & security, to highlight some of the organizations doing this important work in our communities, and to learn together how we can all help. In lieu of door/ticket charges, we will be doing two food drives: for We Feed Us and Food Not Bombs Lewiston (please, ideally, bring a food donation for each drive).
Food Drive Items to Bring:
- Canned or dried beans
- Other canned goods
- Shelf stable milks
- Canned Vegetables
- Canned Fruits
- Cereal
- Snacks
- Pasta
- Rice
- Gift cards (so folks can pick out their own food)
- Diapers, formula – anything for the babies!
- Anything you think your neighbors might need!
